Road Trip!

This year we took our family vacation to visit Kevin and his family in Maryland.  We had a great week with his family!  The kids had fun playing together, the adults got to do plenty of visiting and of course all of Kevin's great cooking!  Some of the kids highlights involved the movie Cars on repeat, playing "hide and go scare", dancing on the Wii and DS competitions.  We also got to celebrate Uncle Kevin's birthday.  It was a very very hot week, but we got to cool off at the local pool as well as Kevin and Amy's amazing screened in porch.  I could sleep out there it was so nice!

We also got to go in DC a couple of days.  The first day we went to the Zoo.  We got to see lions, tigers, pandas, and lots of other animals.  For the first half hour we were there Gavin kept shhushing us because he didn't want to wake up the lions haha.  The giant panda was the highlight for Iris and Logan.  Scott and I preferred the indoor exhibits since it was 95 degrees outside!  But despite the heat we had a good time.

The second day we went into the city we went to see the monuments and the museums.  We got up and went really early to avoid the heat while we walked around.  We saw the Capitol, the Washington Monument, WW2 Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Lincoln Monument, Korean War Memorial and The White House (from a distance).  After all the sight seeing we went to the Museum of Natural History and the Air and Space Museum.  We finished out the day by going to DC Cupcakes!  It was a full day and very cool!

On our last day there we went into Annapolis to see the Navel Academy.  Kevin showed us around the school he went to.  Logan thought it was all pretty cool.  We also went out to lunch at a nice restaurant on the water.  It was a great vacation!  We did a lot but at the same time it was very relaxing!
